The Acquisition

A Foundation for the Future

Bridgemont Family Capital is proud to announce the strategic acquisition of a highly productive 300 Hectare (160-hectare planted) macadamia estate in Hazyview, Mpumalanga. Situated in the heart of South Africa’s prime agricultural belt, this estate represents a cornerstone investment in an industry that has withstood the test of time.

This acquisition is the critical first step in our “farm-to-table” philosophy. By securing prime production capacity, we are laying the groundwork to expand our operations to an ambitious target of 1,500 tons Dry-in-Shell (DIS), ultimately developing the complete value chain from orchard management to final consumer product.

Unlike technology-driven sectors susceptible to rapid disruption from AI and robotics, premium agriculture relies on enduring natural assets, specialized agronomy, and careful stewardship.

Operational Edge

Best-in-Class Performance

Mpumalanga accounts for nearly 30% of South Africa’s macadamia output. Within this highly competitive region, our estate stands out for its exceptional yield metrics and operational efficiency.

Exceptional Yields

Consistently outperforming the regional average of 2.6 t/ha for full-bearing trees, utilizing high-yielding, robust cultivars like Beaumont and A4.

High Crack-Out Rate

Benefiting from the ideal 600-1200m altitude of Hazyview, our nuts develop thinner shells, resulting in superior kernel recovery percentages.

Water Efficiency

Advanced micro-sprinkler irrigation systems ensure optimal water usage (500-600mm/annum) while providing evaporative cooling during heat stress periods.

Operational Excellence

Streamlined on-farm processing, from rapid harvesting to ‘Bungay-style’ in-shed drying, ensuring kernel moisture is quickly reduced to 1.5% to maximize quality.

Hands tending young growth in fertile soil

Careful Stewardship

Enduring assets, tended by hand.

Premium agriculture rewards patience. Our estate is built on enduring natural assets, specialized agronomy, and the daily dedication of the people who work the orchards—a living example of the craftsmanship Bridgemont exists to preserve.

From orchard management to final consumer product, we are developing the complete value chain with the same long-term conviction we bring to every partnership.
